What is concierge medicine?
Concierge medicine is a new approach to practicing
medicine whereby physicians focus greater attention on wellness and preventive
care through enhanced services such as comprehensive physicals, nutrition counseling,
lifestyle improvements, etc. Due to the additional time allotted to each patient
for this approach, physicians typically limit the size of their practice.
Do I see Dr. Rosenberg when I'm sick?
Yes. Dr. Rosenberg will provide the quality care his patients have come to expect when they are sick in addition to the wellness related services which are unique to a concierge practice.
What is the cost of the program?
$2000 per year.
Do I have to pay the annual fee all at once?
The annual fee can be paid in
annual, semi-annual or quarterly installments. Installments must be made using
a credit card supplied at the beginning of the annual term.
Is the fee tax deductible?
The entire fee or a portion thereof, is eligible
to be included as non-reimbursed medical expenses. This amount is tax deductible
subject to a threshold which is varies according to your total income. Only
your accountant can make the final determination on the tax status of this
fee.
Can I get reimbursed for the fee through my insurance company?
In most cases,
no. Most insurance plans do not cover the comprehensive physical and wellness
programs included in the program. And, under no circumstances will the fee
be submitted to Medicare, as the enhanced services are a non-covered item.
An itemized bill will be available for you to submit to your insurance company
if you desire.
Is my insurance compatible with this new program?
Medicare, PPO, and POS insurance
plans are completely compatible with the program for all claims arising out
of the normal course of the doctor's practice with the exception of the enhanced
services. Please call the office for an explanation of how HMO's will be handled.
How will my insurance be affected by this change?
Your insurance coverage is
not affected by this change. Any services outside of the normal scope of the
program will be subject the same rules as always.
Can I submit this fee to my flexible spending account or cafeteria
plan at work?
In most cases, yes. These pre-tax funding plans were established to cover
non-reimbursed medical expenses which would encompass the enhanced wellness
program and preventive care you will receive. Please see your plan administrator
for a final determination.
What will I do if the Doctor is away on vacation or unavailable?
As always,
Dr. Rosenberg has arrangements with other doctors to cover when he is unavailable.
However, this will occur much less frequently than in a traditional practice.
Will my dependents be covered?
All members join as individuals. Because of
the limited number of spaces available, spouses joining together do not receive
a discount. In the case where all adults living in a household join, children
under the age of 22 and living in the household will be allowed to see Dr.
Rosenberg without a membership fee, but they will not be eligible for the enhanced
services.
Can family and friends see the Doctor?
It is limited to members only. However,
out of courtesy to his patients, and a feature of the program, Dr. Rosenberg
will see out of town guests in need of unexpected medical care.
Are there any discounts?
There are no discounts because the limited size of
the practice limits the total revenue and thus any discounts would result in
increases to all other patients.
What are the benefits of joining this practice?
In addition to the focus on
wellness and preventive care, the limited size of the new practice affords
several enhancements to the way you have experienced the interaction with your
physician in the past. As a member of Dr. Rosenberg's new practice, you can
expect:
